Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do sealers Work?
A: Natural Stone Sealers are absorbed by the stone. They do not change the finish of the stone they are applied to. After the sealer penetrates the stone and cures, it creates surface tension to hold staining materials to the surface. Stone sealers are not used for water proofing.

Q: What is the difference between etches and stains?
A: Etches are areas on the surface of the stone that the finish or polish was removed. These are typically caused by an acid dissolving the calcium in the stone. Many common items such as vinegar, citrus juice and many cleaners contain acids that can etch stone. Stains are foreign materials penetrating into the surface and changing the color. The reflection of the stone is not effected by staining.
